ALANE, the 506th redhead photographed for The Redhead Project in May 2022

Excerpts of Alane’s thoughts on her five concepts photographed in studio:

VOYAGE
As a Sagittarius, I embrace the motto "Have Passport, Will Travel" that epitomizes the wanderlust coursing through my veins. In this photo shoot, I sought to intertwine my deep-seated love for exploration with my fervor for fashion. With stamps from over 65 countries adorning my passport across 6 continents, each journey becomes a canvas for discovery.

ANCESTRY (20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s)
My sense of style is a heritage passed down through generations, nurtured by the impeccable taste of my mother, grandmother, and aunt, each a fashion icon in her own right. Growing up in a bustling household, I found myself as the sole recipient of a treasure trove of dresses and accessories, lovingly handed down from these remarkable women. Stepping into the vibrant streets of SOHO at Keith & Kate's, I carried with me not just my own wardrobe, but a legacy spanning eight decades of fashion. Among these cherished garments were family heirlooms dating back to the 1920s, each piece a testament to the timeless elegance and sophistication of bygone eras.

NOSTALGIA (80’s)
I find myself at the intersection of two influential generations, straddling the realms of Baby Boomer and Gen X, encapsulated within the unique cohort known as Generation Jones. Shaped by the socio-cultural landscape of my formative years - a time marked by the ethos of "Keeping up with the Joneses," the rise of Reaganomics, and an era of defining individualism - I endeavor to illuminate the profound impact these experiences have had on shaping my identity.

JOIE DE VIVRE
Among the staggering statistics surrounding breast cancer, where one in eight women will face this formidable diagnosis, I count myself among the fortunate ones who serendipitously caught it early. Enduring months of arduous chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries became my crucible, forging within me a newfound resolve to embrace life unapologetically. In the wake of this transformative journey, I stand before the lens of this shoot, bearing a message of authenticity and resilience. It is a testament to my commitment to living unabashedly, embodying the purest essence of my being. With unwavering support from my cherished family - my devoted husband, two precious children, and the unwavering love of my extended family - I navigated through the darkest valleys with courage and grace. Their unwavering presence became my anchor, a source of strength that carried me through the storm.

SPORT
My journey to equestrian excellence began with the humble foundation of bareback riding, a testament to the unwavering bond between horse and rider that laid the groundwork for our shared success. In the winter months, my love affair with the slopes blossomed as I joined a local ski racing team, honing my skills and amassing a collection of medals that adorned my hat in a display of hard-earned pride. It was amidst the snowy peaks and crisp mountain air that I discovered a profound sense of freedom and exhilaration, instilling within me a lifelong passion for the thrill of skiing.

Alane’s thoughts on her virtual photoshoot March 2024 for this newsletter:
It seemed serendipitous that I had plans to celebrate a friend's birthday with a dinner reservation at O Ya, a renowned sushi Michelin-starred restaurant nestled in the heart of Boston's Leather District. Embracing the theme of fashion and travel,[ and my a penchant for culinary delights], I suggested we capture the essence of this culinary excursion against the backdrop of this vibrant neighborhood. Known for its off-the-beaten-path charm, the Leather District provided the perfect setting to showcase my love for exploring hidden gems. Clad in a silk skirt, shirt, and umbrella sourced from Japan, I felt a sense of synergy between my attire and the occasion. Each garment whispered tales of distant lands and cultural encounters, echoing my passion for immersing myself in the richness of different cultures.

About Staple Street in Tribeca
